Artist - Kishor Shinde

Kishor Shinde is a celebrated contemporary Indian artist known for his deeply expressive and abstract visual language. Born in 1958, Shinde earned his Diploma in Painting from the prestigious M.S. University, Baroda, in 1981. His career spans over four decades, marked by a continuous evolution of style and form, rooted in the exploration of rhythm, energy, and the metaphysical. Shinde’s canvases are dynamic compositions—textured, layered, and emotionally resonant. Though abstract in form, his works are intentional in their use of color and gesture, channeling a cathartic energy that bridges the spiritual and the sensual. As the artist explains, “While standing in front of the white canvas space, the inner eye opens… abstract versions of rhythm build visual syllables and symbols… myriad colors fill the spaces. I am painting in a cathartic fervor.” A recipient of multiple accolades, Shinde was awarded the National Award for Painting by the Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi in 1998, and the Gujarat State Lalit Kala Akademi Award in 1978. His works are part of prominent public collections, including the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi, and the Lalit Kala Akademi, Delhi
